On Friday, The Andover Golden Warriors faced the Billerica Memorial Indians in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Andover took down Billerica Memorial 34-15. The win was familiar territory for Andover who now have four in a row.
Andover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dom Papa, who threw for 168 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 85 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason DeJesus, who picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Judd Dorival and Gus O'Gara certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Dorival gained 128 total yards and two touchdowns, while O'Gara gained 121 total yards.
Andover's victory was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.5 points per game. As for Billerica Memorial, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Andover will take on Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Andover is ranked eighth). As for Billerica Memorial, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Plymouth South at 7:00 p.m.
