Basketball Recap: D'ivona Rumph Key Part of a Team Effort in Bruins Win

Orangeburg-Wilkinson posted their closest win since November 30, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the North Eagles 44-42. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was D'Ivona Rumph out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Rumph a new career-high in rebounds. Harmoni Williams was another key player, putting up four points along with eight assists and seven steals.

North's loss came despite strong showings from Kailen Parks and Amariyah Calloway. Parks posted 19 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals, while Calloway had 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 45.2% of North's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenneadee Mack, who scored four points and three steals.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson has already played their next match, a 43-23 win against Battery Creek on the 14th. As for North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 80-25 victory against Blackville-Hilda on the 7th.
