It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lafayette Rams had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 49-0 win over the Hurricanes at home. Considering Lafayette has won ten contests by more than 28 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Lafayette had a senior duo take command as Nazeer Wolmart rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry and Hayden Oleksy rushed for 27 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory (which was Lafayette's seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.4 points per game. As for Heritage, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6.
Lafayette will face off against Brentsville District at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Brentsville District: 12.8, Lafayette: 6.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
