Softball Recap: Sharpsville Wins Going Away Against Wilmington

Sharpsville won the last time they faced Wilmington and things went their way on Monday too. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 9-1 victory. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jordan Brest spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sharpsville got a massive performance out of Izzie Candiotti, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Candiotti has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Palko, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Sharpsville lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Sharpsville's record now sits at 9-6. As for Wilmington, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sharpsville will face off against Farrell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils are facing the Steelers at the right time seeing as the Steelers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wilmington, they will square off against New Castle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last five games the Hurricanes have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
