The Wiregrass Ranch Bulls will square off against the Wharton Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wiregrass Ranch comes in on seven and Wharton on four.
Last Wednesday, Wiregrass Ranch made easy work of Weeki Wachee and carried off a 13-4 victory. Considering the Bulls have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Chloe Troupe, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Zoe Troupe, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Wiregrass Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weeki Wachee only posted an OBP of .348.
Meanwhile, Wharton posted their closest win since April 4, 2024 on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Chamberlain 8-7.
Willa Soorus looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in February.
At the plate, Adriana Cadicamo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Parker, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Wiregrass Ranch pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Wharton, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wiregrass Ranch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Wharton struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Wiregrass Ranch's way against Wharton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Wiregrass Ranch made off with a 19-4 win. Will Wiregrass Ranch repeat their success, or does Wharton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
