The Colerain Cardinals will challenge the Ross Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colerain hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
Lakota West hit Colerain with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals came up short against the Firebirds, falling 8-1.
Natali McGuire made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Ross owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bellbrook 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
Not much got past Paige Baker, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Bellbrook off the board. Baker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ross saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Meadow Webb, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Ross' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Colerain, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Colerain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Ross struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colerain suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Ross in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
