Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Great Bend

Great Bend entered their tilt with Hays on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Indians. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Chayla Prendergast made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Prendergast was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, Camdyn Post was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DeShawnna Bryant, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Great Bend was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Great Bend's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Hays, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Great Bend will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Indians: the pair will be back at it again later today.
