AAAAAA Region 6 recap November 13, 2013
Alpharetta was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in AAAAAA Region 6. The Raiders defeated Johns Creek 31-26 earlier in the week.
Alpharetta extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Gladiators, 31-26. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Johns Creek's dynamic duo of Chase Solomon and Kyle Varnell proved to be unstoppable against the Raiders, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Solomon threw for 315 yards and 3 touchdowns and Varnell had 160 yards receiving. Giovani Douyon helped Johns Creek's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 42 yards.
He went 16-34 with 0 interceptions.
Matthew Manning made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mike Cloy's team fell to Alpharetta. He racked up 3 sacks.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Raiders' Austin King and Andre Harton have proven to be a lethal combination. King has thrown for 2,036 yards this season, while Harton has 37 catches for 898 yards. West Forsyth's TREVOR O'BRIEN leads the league in rushing yards with 864.
Accruing a total of 14 touchdowns this year, Taz Wilson has thrown for 1,986 yards with 12 interceptions.
Lambert scaled the state rankings by moving to 93 from 124 this week, the biggest jump in AAAAAA Region 6. The Longhorns were able to move up by defeating the Wolverines 33-14.
