The Nipmuc Regional Warriors won against the Blackstone-Millville Chargers last Tuesday with 51 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Nipmuc Regional walked away with a 51-42 win over the Chargers. Given Nipmuc Regional's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Chargers are ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Nipmuc Regional to victory were James McKinney and Brayden Kelly. McKinney dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Kelly scored 21 points. McKinney hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games. Chase Kelly was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Blackstone-Millville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Folster, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ousman Touray, who scored ten points.
Nipmuc Regional is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Blackstone-Millville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nipmuc Regional will take on the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Caleb Deters and McKinney. As for Blackstone-Millville, they will be playing at home against the Blue Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
