Baseball Recap: Solvay Extends Winning Streak to Five

Solvay had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They put the hurt on the Holland Patent Golden Knights with a sharp 12-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Solvay pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Holland Patent, they moved to 5-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Solvay will take on Chester at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bearcats 3.3, the Hambletonians 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Holland Patent does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
