Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Basic Wolves, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 24-14 to Green Valley on Friday. Basic's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Basic's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brandon Griffin, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Jack Thow was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Ben Byington did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.
Basic's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Green Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.
Basic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Green Valley will head out on the road to face off against Faith Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Faith Lutheran has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 136 points over their last three matchups.
