The Smithfield Packers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Lafayette 77-27. Smithfield has not had much luck with Lafayette recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Dynasti Pierce was a one-man wrecking crew for Lafayette as she dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 steals. Pierce is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was MaKayla Keys, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Smithfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Lafayette, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithfield will take on Warhill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warhill will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Lafayette, they will be playing at home against Jamestown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jamestown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Lafayette likes a good challenge.
