On Friday, The West Canada Valley Indians faced the Morrisville-Eaton Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. West Canada Valley walked away with a 18-8 win over Morrisville-Eaton. Winning may never get old, but West Canada Valley sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Morrisville-Eaton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carter Highers. Despite the final result, he rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.
West Canada Valley's win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Cooperstown and 0-7 Sauquoit Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Morrisville-Eaton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
West Canada Valley will square off against Frankfort-Schuyler at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Frankfort-Schuyler will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Morrisville-Eaton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
