The Marshall Barristers''s four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They blew past Torres 50-0 at home. Marshall's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
Scott Teves was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Teves was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Gudiel, who gained 74 total yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Marshall's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Marshall's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Torres, their loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Marshall will face off against Verdugo Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Torres does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
