Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Logan Chieftains proved on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 58-33 margin over Alexander. That's another feather in the cap for Logan, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Logan to victory were Dani Mahaffey and Makenzie Daubenmire. Mahaffey scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds, while Daubenmire scored 21 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. That makes it two consecutive games in which Mahaffey has scored at least 25% of Logan's points. Ryann Landis was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Alexander's loss came despite strong showings from Kaylee Hudnall and Mckenna Moore. Hudnall scored 10 points along with 3 steals, while Moore scored 5 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Logan's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Alexander, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Logan will square off against Jackson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Alexander, they will head out on the road to face off against Wellston at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Wellston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Alexander likes a good challenge.
