Even though the Flanagan-Cornell Falcons have not done well against the Tremont Turks recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Flanagan-Cornell had just enough and edged Tremont out 66-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Kesler Collins was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Flanagan-Cornell's points. Another player making a difference was Connor Reed, who scored eight points.
Flanagan-Cornell is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Tremont, they bumped their record down to 13-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flanagan-Cornell will face off against Ridgeview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ridgeview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while Flanagan-Cornell is ranked 211th). As for Tremont, they will head out on the road to face off against El Paso-Gridley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Paso-Gridley is coming into the game hot, having won their last 12 games.
