Troy added to the longest winning streak in Northern Tier 1 this week by beating Mount Carmel, 24-15. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Towanda fell to Loyalsock Township. 48-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Noah Huff threw for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 42 yards in the loss.
Michael Pietropola threw for 245 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 18-36 with 3 interceptions.
Jed Wright was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 178 yards as Troy fell to South Williamsport. Diante Jones also contributed to the rushing game with 108 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Hornets' Pietropola and Owlett have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Pietropola has thrown for 2,755 yards this season, while Owlett has 45 catches for 1,126 yards. Luke Jennings from Wyalusing Valley leads the league in rushing with 1,685 yards.
In 193 carries Brandon Sturzenegger has put up 977 yards this year.
Wellsboro led Northern Tier 1 in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Wellsboro.
