The Oconto Falls Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Waupaca Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Waupaca took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Oconto Falls, who comes in off a win.
Oconto Falls was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Marinette on Tuesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Marines. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Marines recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Randi Metzler was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Oconto Falls got a massive performance out of Maddy Maloney, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Maloney also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Ava Salscheider was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Oconto Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Waupaca's offense. They came up short against Freedom on Tuesday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Comets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Oconto Falls' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Waupaca, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Oconto Falls skirted past Waupaca 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
