The Big Walnut Golden Eagles will head out to face off against the Westerville North Warriors at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Big Walnut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Big Walnut made easy work of Pickerington North and carried off a 10-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kennedy Reed and Sarah Adams were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Reed tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Adams pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reed has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Reed went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Adams went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Kyra Holmes was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Myleigh Potts, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Big Walnut was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
New Albany hit Westerville North with a ten-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors lost 15-2 to the Eagles. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westerville North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Gibbs, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Westerville North's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Big Walnut, their record now sits at 12-5.
Westerville North's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Big Walnut has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Westerville North, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 strikeouts. Will Big Walnut keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?
Everything went Big Walnut's way against Westerville North in their previous meeting on April 9th, as Big Walnut made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
