St. Mary's Springs is a perfect 3-0 against New Holstein since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Ledgers will host the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
St. Mary's Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Mayville 10-3 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Ledgers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Max Sadownikow made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, Ben Anderson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Calvin Steffes was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
St. Mary's Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, New Holstein won against Valders on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Huskies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.
The team relied heavily on Hayden Jurgensmier, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Owen Jacobs also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
New Holstein's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Mary's Springs, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4.
St. Mary's Springs came out on top in a nail-biter against New Holstein when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Ledgers repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
