The Buckhorn Bucks will head out on the road to square off against the Madison County Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Buckhorn will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Buckhorn's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Mae Jemison 18-0. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Chloe Helton looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February.

At the plate, Andre-Ana Davis was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Bailey Lamar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Buckhorn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Madison County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Lawrence County 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won three in a row.
Marion Gamble spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydney Gurley, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Allison Yeary, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Madison County's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Buckhorn, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Buckhorn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Madison County struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Buckhorn suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Madison County in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Buckhorn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
