The Augusta Orioles's seven-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against Abilene by a score of 40-33. That's another feather in the cap for Augusta, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Augusta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Bourm, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maeve Fleming, who scored six points.
The victory got Augusta back to even at 1-1. As for Abilene, they bumped their record down to 0-3 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Augusta will take on Circle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Circle will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Abilene, they will be playing at home against Southeast of Saline on Tuesday. Southeast of Saline presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Abilene in Kansas (Southeast of Saline is ranked 79th, while Abilene is ranked 255th).
