The Lansdowne Vikings will take on the Catonsville Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lansdowne's hitters has struggled lately (they haven't scored a run in three consecutive games), something the team is no doubt ready to change.
Monday just wasn't the day for Lansdowne's offense. They lost 16-0 to Dulaney on Monday.
Catonsville never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Western Tech & Environmental Science on Monday. They put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 15-7 victory. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Lilly Barrone and Kaia Gross made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Barrone tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Gross tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Barrone went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Gross got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Emily Meiller was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Jenkins, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Catonsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Tech & Environmental Science only posted an OBP of .382.
Lansdowne's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Catonsville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Lansdowne couldn't quite finish off Catonsville in their previous meeting back in March of 2019 and fell 2-0. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
