River Mill is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Chatham Charter is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Jaguars will host the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. River Mill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, River Mill earned a 5-2 win over Durham School of the Arts.
Blake Lutterloh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Peyton Tubbs was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydan Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Chatham Charter owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. Everything went their way against River Mill as they made off with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Knights have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Zach Cartrette was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Chatham Charter is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 5-6 otherwise. Cartrette was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jace Young, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Chatham Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Garrison Clark was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Chatham Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Chatham Charter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for River Mill, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-4.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. River Mill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Chatham Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
River Mill might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Chatham Charter in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Will the Jaguars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
