The Moriarty Pintos fell victim to the Espanola Valley Sundevils''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Sundevils on the road and fell 50-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, Moriarty couldn't push the score so high this time.
Espanola Valley was led to victory by Adrick Deleon and Jack Purdy. Deleon rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Purdy rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Deleon's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
Moriarty's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.0 points per game. As for Espanola Valley, the victory was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moriarty will take on Taos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Taos is ranked 60th, while Moriarty is ranked 57th). As for Espanola Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pojoaque Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pojoaque Valley is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
