The Aransas Pass Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 63-38 loss at the hands of Gregory-Portland. Aransas Pass was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-18.
It was another big night for Madison Kilgore, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds for Gregory-Portland. Kilgore is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rheanna Escamilla, who scored six points along with ten assists and three steals.
Aransas Pass has fallen quite a ways from their 26-12 record last season and are now at 2-7. As for Gregory-Portland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Aransas Pass will be home for the holidays to greet Skidmore-Tynan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gregory-Portland, they will head out on the road to face off against Victoria East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Victoria East will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
