Metro - Mesa recap Nov. 7, 2012
Olympian extended the longest winning streak in Metro - Mesa this week by beating Bonita Vista, 40-0. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Eagles.
Olympian took down the Barons 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Christopher Humphery threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 35 yards in the win.
Kyle Hawkins provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Otay Ranch fell to Eastlake. He completed 19 passes for 203 yards and also ran for 43 yards. Hawkins' favorite target this week was Chris Martin, who caught six passes for 69 yards.
Ray Holden was the best wideout in the league this week as Chula Vista lost to Tesoro. Holden tallied five receptions for 107 yards. Richard Walker helped Chula Vista's passing attack out by catching four balls for 43 yards.
Aaron Baltazar was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 133 yards as the Titans lost to the Titans. Teammate Isaiah Strayhorn added to the ground attack by rushing for 18 yards.
The Mustangs' Hawkins and Martin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Metro - Mesa in both passing and receiving yards. Hawkins has thrown for 1949 yards this season, while Martin, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 49 catches for 1171 yards. Chula Vista's Jevante Reed leads the league in rushing yards with 1391.
Entering into this week's contest against Carlsbad, Hawkins is short just 51 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
In 86 carries Andrell Snowden has accumulated 955 yard this year.
Gil Warren's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on Bonita Vista. Humphery in the win.
