The Classical Purple will head out on the road to face off against the Cranston West Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Classical has three straight wins, Cranston West has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Classical is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: East Greenwich, who was ranked 17th at the time (Classical was ranked 12th). The Purple were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Avengers on Thursday.
Classical got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 32-30, 25-20.

Classical relied on the efforts of Angelina Pham, who had ten digs, and Monoluwa Adeniyi, who had nine aces and three digs. Adeniyi is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last five games she's played. Marlowe Castille also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Classical was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 15 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cranston West didn't have quite enough to beat Chariho on Thursday and fell 3-2. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 25-12 in the first set.
Cranston West started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-22, 15-7.
Classical's record is now 9-7. As for Cranston West, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Classical couldn't quite get it done against Cranston West when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Purple avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
