Basketball Recap: Walnut Grove Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Jack Bonagura and AJ Curerton

Walnut Grove Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 79-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lab University Prep Varsity Kings. The Christian Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Kings earlier this season, when they won 82-59.

AJ Curerton and Jack Bonagura certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Curerton posted 25 points, while Bonagura put up 19 points. Curerton's evening made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jake Schlosser was another key player, putting up nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lab University Prep Varsity to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaleel Brown, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Brown a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was DJ Rogers, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards.

Walnut Grove Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Lab University Prep Varsity, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-11.

Walnut Grove Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 81-78 win against NorthPoint Christian Academy on the 28th. Lab University Prep Varsity has also already played their next contest, an 80-72 loss against Grace Academy on the 30th.
