This season hasn't been kind to The Lewis Mills Spartans, who are still winless after their seventh game. They were dealt a 54-0 defeat at the hands of Bloomfield on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Lewis Mills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Bloomfield is ranked 17th).
Larry Weaver threw for 44 yards on four of 15 attempts. Ryan Hemingway was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards.
Davion Kerr went supernova for Bloomfield, rushing for 128 yards and three touchdowns, while also picking up 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Za'kwi Kimber, who rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Lewis Mills' defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.6 points per game. As for Bloomfield, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis Mills will square off against Plainville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bloomfield, they will head out on the road to face off against East Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
