After flying high against Abundant Life Academy on Friday, The Pilgrim Academy came back down to earth. The Pilgrim Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Parmer, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 boards. Parmer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared McGonagle, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, The Pilgrim Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gloucester County Christian only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Colby James continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gloucester County Christian, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave James a new career-high. Another player making a difference was David DellaRova, who posted 19 points and three steals.
The Pilgrim Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Gloucester County Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-13.
Looking ahead, The Pilgrim Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Atlantic Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Atlantic Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. As for Gloucester County Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-45 defeat against King's Christian on the 10th.
