Winther has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hayley McNeal was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Smith, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Potlatch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Maries only posted an OBP of .308.
Potlatch's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.3 runs over those games. As for St. Maries, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2.
Coming up, Potlatch will take on Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Maries, they will square off against Timberlake at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
