The Monroe Central Golden Bears and the Wapahani Raiders squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the Monroe Central Golden Bears had to settle for second. They took a 37-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. Monroe Central has not had much luck with Wapahani recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Addy Puckett and Kimber Abshear certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Puckett scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Abshear scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wapahani to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emilee Thompson, who scored nine points along with seven steals. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Emily Luce was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Monroe Central's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Wapahani, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.
Monroe Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wapahani, they will square off against Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wapahani focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday.
