The Pymatuning Valley Lakers will head out on the road to take on the Brookfield Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pymatuning Valley can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Harding 64-14 on the road. While fans of Pymatuning Valley might be used to big wins, the 50-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pymatuning Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leah DeMoss, who scored 19 points along with two steals. DeMoss is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Paul, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Brookfield strolled past Garfield with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 44-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Brookfield.
Brookfield's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mya Jumper, who scored 14 points along with three steals, and Cailey Wellman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wellman has scored at least a third of Brookfield's points. Another player making a difference was Marae Craig, who scored two points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Pymatuning Valley's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Brookfield, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pymatuning Valley have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Brookfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pymatuning Valley was dealt a bruising 74-36 defeat at the hands of Brookfield in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Pymatuning Valley, Sophia Hook (who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a triple-double on 28 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists) won't be suiting up this time.
