Softball Recap: Daingerfield Takes a Loss

Daingerfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Jefferson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 19-18. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Kaidence Mason stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with 11 stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Rachael Walker was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with nine stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

Daingerfield has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Jefferson, their record now sits at 10-15.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Daingerfield will face off against rival Hughes Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jefferson is set to square off against their familiar foe Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
