Baseball Recap: Carson Triumphs

Carson saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Mt. Shasta Bears by a score of 10-5.

Ethan Cook and Tyler LaFollette did most of the damage at the plate: Cook scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while LaFollette scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. LaFollette has become a key player for Carson: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-16 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cruz Gonzales, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Carson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Carson's victory bumped their record up to 7-17. As for Mt. Shasta, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carson will face off against Douglas at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mt. Shasta, they will head out to face off against Los Molinos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
