It was a good run, but the Corning Bobcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 64-53 to Rivercrest. Corning was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rivercrest apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Mykayla Banks was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Rivercrest. Banks hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Zakiyah Brownlee, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks.
Corning's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Rivercrest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corning and Piggott will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Piggott has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Rivercrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Harrisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Harrisburg has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 173 points over their last three matches.
