The Kent County Trojans pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Pocomoke by a score of 64-61. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kent County of the 60-39 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Donyae Washington was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 23 rebounds for Pocomoke. Washington hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for 17 straight games. Another player making a difference was Maddie Esham, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Kent County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Pocomoke, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Kent County will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kent Island at 4:00 p.m. As for Pocomoke, they will head out on the road to take on Bennett at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Bennett is coming into the contest with four straight losses at home, meaning Pocomoke will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
