The United Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Edinburg Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as United comes in on three and Edinburg on four.
Even though Clemens scored an imposing 67 points on Tuesday, United still came out on top. United enjoyed a cozy 84-67 win over Clemens. Given United's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Clemens is ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jesslynn Jalomo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 6 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of United's points. Alejandra Idrogo was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, even though Harvest Christian scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Edinburg still came out on top. Edinburg secured a 66-60 W over Harvest Christian.
Edinburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kimora Fagan led the charge by scoring 28 points along with five rebounds. Fagan continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Martinez, who scored 17 points along with four steals.
United pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.5 points per game. As for Edinburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for United against Edinburg when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 89-55 victory. With United ahead 53-33 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
