The Mendota Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 59-17 loss at the hands of Bureau Valley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mendota in their matchups with Bureau Valley: they've now lost four in a row.
Leading Bureau Valley to victory were Libby Endress and Lynzie Cady. Endress scored 12 points along with five rebounds, while Cady scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Endress' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kate Salisbury, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Mendota bumped their record down to 4-14 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for Bureau Valley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8.
Mendota will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Rock Falls. Bureau Valley will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Wethersfield at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. Wethersfield is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
