The Coral Springs Charter Panthers will challenge the St. Brendan Sabres at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Coral Springs Charter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Mater Lakes Academy get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on 11 straight.
Sophia Bertorelli looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Gio Gurgel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addi Michel, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Coral Springs Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Brendan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Pompano Beach on Wednesday.
Jules Miranda made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Miranda was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Coral Latshaw, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Rachel Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Coral Springs Charter's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for St. Brendan, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coral Springs Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373. However, it's not like St. Brendan struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Coral Springs Charter beat St. Brendan 3-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Sabres have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
