Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lone Star to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grant Kuntz, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Kuntz is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Weathers, who went 8 of 11 en route to 16 points.
Lone Star smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Briggsdale ended up a good deal behind Caliche on Saturday and lost 59-45.
Lone Star will need focus on slowing down Dallas Glass, one of several Briggsdale players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Glass a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Scot Francis, who posted 19 points and three steals.
Briggsdale has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Lone Star, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lone Star has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Briggsdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lone Star was taken down by Briggsdale 62-33 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Lone Star, Tanner Fiscus (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
