Evansville Reitz is 0-8 against Boonville since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Evansville Reitz Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Boonville Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Evansville Reitz focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Evansville Reitz didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Jasper, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Evansville Reitz.
Evansville Reitz's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Bailey Hape, who scored 16 points along with five assists, and Kaelyse Mitchell, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Hape continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Norah Miller was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Boonville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 60-42 to Heritage Hills. While losing is never fun, Boonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Heritage Hills is ranked 61st).
Evansville Reitz's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Boonville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
Evansville Reitz came up short against Boonville in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 41-36. Can Evansville Reitz avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
