The Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes will venture away from home to take on the David Crockett Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
David Crockett will be up against a hot Morristown-Hamblen East team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Hurricanes blew past Sevier County 13-3 on Thursday. The Hurricanes' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ella Wampler made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Morristown-Hamblen East let Jaycee Hamilton and Harmony Sullivan run wild. Hamilton went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Sullivan scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four RBI gave Hamilton a new career-high. Ava Combs also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Morristown-Hamblen East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, David Crockett hadn't done well against Tennessee recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pioneers were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Vikings. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 7, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Madelyn Dulaney spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, David Crockett got a big performance out of Brylee Tullock, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Hawkins, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
David Crockett's record is now 14-3-1. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.
Morristown-Hamblen East came up short against David Crockett in their previous meeting back in March, falling 9-4. Can the Hurricanes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
