As some states transition into postseason play, shake-ups in our rankings continue as the 2019-20 high school basketball season is the Year of the Upset.
The upsets continued on Friday night as Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) defeated No. 6 Centennial (Corona, Calif.) 66-58 in overtime, Richardson (Texas) took down No. 16 Duncanville (Texas) 81-77 in overtime and Simeon (Chicago) upended No. 24 Curie (Chicago) 79-69.
No. 13 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) was also in action tonight, avenging last
month's loss to Mount St. Joseph (Baltimore) 73-69.
An exciting week of hoops action kicked off with a Monday showdown that saw No. 2 Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) take down Shiloh (Snellville, Ga.) 75-64 in the Region 8-AAAAAAA title game.
Tuesday was filled with intriguing matchups as No. 3 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) took down St. John's (Washington, D.C.) 71-63, Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) upended No. 19 Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.) 75-72 and No. 24 Curie (Chicago) edged Orr (Chicago) 67-66.
Thursday night, No. 14 Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) took down
Patrick School (Hillside, N.J.) 68-63 behind a dominant effort from
Ohio State signee
Zed Key who finished with 37 points and 16 rebounds in the signature win.
