Basketball Recap: Jersey Paul's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Carroll over Norwell

Carroll lost against Norwell back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Carroll Chargers took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norwell Knights. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in December of 2024 (57), the Chargers still had to take the loss.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jersey Paul, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 17 points and five assists. Paul is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Cala Haffner was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Norwell, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carroll won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Columbia City at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Carroll: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Columbia City has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Norwell, they will square off against Leo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Norwell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Leo likes a good challenge.
