The Page Patriots entered their tilt with the Independence Eagles with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Page enjoyed a cozy 44-30 win over the Eagles on Tuesday. Given Page's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Eagles are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Page's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Espelet, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Fox, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Independence's loss came despite strong showings from Evy Nichols and Riley Brooks. Nichols scored 12 points along with three steals, while Brooks scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Independence struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Page is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Independence, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Page will take on the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brentwood is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.2 points per game this season. As for Independence, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Raptors at 6:00 p.m.
