Tolar has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Cayuga Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tolar knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Cayuga likes a good challenge.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Tolar walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Trenton 57-12 at home. Tolar might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.
Tolar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garrison Nation, who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns. Nation was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards. Isaac Blessing was another key contributor, throwing for 65 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes.
Riesel typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Cayuga proved too difficult a challenge. Cayuga managed a 20-14 win over Riesel. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cayuga.
Cayuga's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gunner Douglas led the charge by rushing for 70 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 46 yards and a touchdown. Cayuga also got a significant boost from Whit Jenkins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Tolar's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Cayuga, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Tolar has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 175.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cayuga struggles in that department as they've been even better at 287 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
