Baseball Recap: Bauxite Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Bauxite won against Rose Bud last Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Miners' way against the Fountain Lake Cobras as they made off with an 8-2 win. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Austin Hastings looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drake Pettus, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Landyn Marshall was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Bauxite kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Bauxite is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fountain Lake, they dropped their record down to 10-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Bauxite will challenge Arkadelphia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fountain Lake, they will be playing at home against Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
