After a string of three wins, the El Dorado Christian Buffalos's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plaza Heights Christian Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as El Dorado Christian came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Plaza Heights Christian Academy is ranked 199th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Plaza Heights Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Jones, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Remi Schieber, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
El Dorado Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Heartland the next time they take the court. Plaza Heights Christian Academy will host Heartland at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, while El Dorado Christian will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on January 13, 2024.
